Yeah!! It was a Wednesday evening the 21st Sept. 2011. Lectures usually ends at 4pm on Wednesday. So after a big-time fun with my uni buddies, I started moving towards bus halt to get back home, I live in Borella, Colombo 08, and 20 minute travel from the University...

Well, Thank god, I got a ring from my mum, I called her back, she informed me that she has mistakenly taken away the house keys with herself, and she'll be back around 8pm. I just checked the time, Gosh!!! It’s still half passed six, I had no options, and nothing was going throughout that day from the morning itself. I was scratching my head and saw up the sky. Sky was so different; I would say mixture of gloomy clouds with mild purple color made me a thought "Why shouldn't I walk all the way to home??” I dint wait for even a second, started walking straight away.

Notable point that I've spent my whole School life and spending my University life in Colombo 07, but never walked through the interior roads of Col-07, thoroughly excited I should say.

Once I crossed the Arts faculty of UoC, I found a short cut route to reach SSC grounds. I can say, the short route has a name, I just googled that. "Independence Walk" what people calls it. Once I went through the Independence Square what I got next is a playground, which is named as Sports Ministry Playground. Checked the time from a clock tower just opposite to the grounds. It was three-quarter passed six. Sigh!!!! More time to go (my mind voice). Well there was a digital clock with the Bank of Ceylon, Independence Square branch as well. I should say the BoC branch is wonderful, the evening view is mind-blowing.
And yeah!!!!
Finally reached the SSC, Through Vidya Mawatha reached Wijerama Mw. Now, I walked towards Gregory's Road. That's all I know. I know If I walk all along in Gregory's Road I will reach home easily. But I don't want to go home early, as I have to wait till my mum comes. Also I do not know any roads afterwards Gregory's Road. I was thinking, thinking and thinking OK DECIDED; let’s walk through the unknown roads. Checked the time again, LOL its just quarter passed seven. So I started walking again.

But the roads gone out of sight, usually you don't see many street lights in Colombo 07 interior roads, So I was suffering like how to go. I dint ask anybody out there on road, because I loved the twist and had a strong belief that I can somehow reach home. I was walking like hell, searching for roads in that dark messy evening. I assume that I walked like 4km through in that rough night to reach home. I checked the time finally after reaching my road, its half passed eight. You know what; my mum still not arrived at home. It was nearly 9pm to settle myself. I told right nothing was going right that day. That has proven again. Important fact that the roads which I passed through in this journey following as,

Prof. Stanley Wijesundara Mw ---> Independence Walk ---> Independence Square ---> Independence Avenue ---> Maitland Place --->Vidya Mw ---> Wijerama Mw ---> Rosemead Place ---> Knysey Road ---> Austin Place ---> Borella Junction.

I was so idiotic to walk a long way to reach, where it could've been done simply. But nevertheless it was a memorable journey, very memorable indeed.

The route and important stills are attached, my phone cam ain't that quality, please bare with me:D

Cheers!!!!

This blog post I'm writing because of the wrong views that I had on Colonel Gaddafi. Since my childhood, I've red and learnt the facts about Gaddafi which created a bad image but I never known that he had a broad view about Libya and it's development.

Let me share the things which I do not like on him. First of all I do not like his appearance. His hairstyle, the beard he had, his sun glasses, his dressing styles and all. All these his features meant to be a joker, Since I've seen jokers in the "Card Pack" , But Gaddafi is the man who suited the card pack joker very much (It is purely my imagination). Secondly the love he had in gold. When rebel troops captured his official palace I can say "kilos" of gold taken. The Lady body guards which he had is disgusting. The most important thing, freedom for journalism and democracy. Gaddafi is a man who doesn't allow anyone to even SPEAK against him. It is a death-penalty offense in Libya. Many journalists and activists killed during his time from Sept. 1st 1969 from March 2nd 2011. Libya placed 160-th in a journalist  He doesn't know the true meaning of democracy, even the definition. One of the hatred quote I've heard from Gaddafi, the actual reason I hate him from my bottom of heart.

"I'm the Leader for the World...
The Supreme of Arab Nations...
King of Africa...
I'm the Imam of all Muslims.."

But I never thought that, Gaddafi had a good side as a coin has two sides, As the sources say (Which I red aftermath his death) he had been a true leader for Libyan civilians. First thing, 'Idris of Libya' was the leader before Gaddafi, and simply toppled Idris, It was a bloodless war, easily took the control of Libya with the help of small army troop. Libyan people was so happy as the writer says, because under Idris people were suffering for everything. People considered him as the rescuer of Libya. Gaddafi got to know that Libya's having 2% of world petroleum, and U.S. and European market was dominating it. Gadaffi immediately taken the petroleum industry of Libya and merged with OPEC, By doing that, he kept a full-stop to the capitalism in Libyan Oil. He did directly supported from Palestine activists to Ireland activist troops and many more, treated and helped them with arms and etc. The Activist troops honored Gaddafi as the Che of Africa (I can't accept this bullshit, but still the writer writes). Gaddafi had a different strategy to develop Libya, actually the strategy has worked off as the writer says.

Gaddafi treated Education and Health sectors as his two eyes. These two sectors were directed under his control. Gaddafi's efforts didn't get failed. A mammoth increment was noted in Libya's Literacy rate, now it stands as 76.2%. His main health policy to have a doctor for each 1000 people. He wins that battle itself too. Every Libyan mother got 5000 Libyan dinars for every delivery she had. Every Libyan should own a house. This policy was a dream-come-true for almost all Libyans. Cottage houses transformed into brick houses. His business targets were again so different. Private entities can take the hold of small-scale businesses, whereas large-scale businesses should be under Gaddafi (Government). This trick actually worked off, Libya had a 10.6% growth in the Gross Domestic Product.

So, I'm sorry Colonel Gaddafi, I never known the last two stanzas until I red about you completely. RIP Muammar Gaddafi

Hey buddies !!!! This is a very old though, but nevertheless pure awesomeness !! Enjoy !!

After having failed his exam in "Logistics and Organization", a student goes and confronts his lecturer about it.

Student: "Sir, do you really understand anything about the subject?"

Professor: "Surely I must. Otherwise I would not be a professor!"

Student: "Great, well then I would like to ask you a question.

If you can give me the correct answer, I will accept my mark as is and go. If you however do not know the answer, I want you give me an "A" for the exam. "

Professor: "Okay, it's a deal. So what is the question?"

Student: "What is legal, but not logical, logical, but not legal, and neither logical, nor legal?"

Even after some long and hard consideration, the professor cannot give the student an answer, and therefore changes his exam mark into an "A", as agreed.

Afterwards, the professor calls on his best student and asks him the same question.

He immediately answers: "Sir, you are 63 years old and married to a 35 year old woman, which is legal, but not logical. Your wife has a 25 year old lover, which is logical, but not legal. The fact that you have given your wife's lover an "A", although he really should have failed, is neither legal, nor logical."

Cheers !!!!!!

- A blemish politician, for his own political aspects building a dam which is not strong, not stable. Finally in few months the dam collapses. Thousands people are died and displaced because of the collapse. - This is the theme of the movie Dam999 recently released.

This movie has created major dispute between two state governments of India, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The "Mullaperiyaru Dam" is what both governments are fighting for.

Before talking about the problem let me explain the history and the general facts about “Mullaperiyaru Dam”. This Dam situated in the state of Kerala, but most of the beneficiaries taken by Tamil Nadu government to facilitate water to their districts. In 18th century Thiruvangoor Maharaja signed an agreement with British officials (India was a colony nation of Britain those days) that Tamil Nadu government will administrate the dam for 999 year lease basis. Kerala Government will receive a tax amount because the dam is situated in Kerala itself.
The Construction begun in the year 1887 and opened in the year 1895 British Military Engineer John Pennycuick was the chief engineer to the project and was so dedicated towards the project; he sold his wife’s jewelries to finish off the project in a difficult situation. Tamil Nadu people honoured him and placed a statue in Madurai.  The diverted water from the Dam covers a vast area including Madurai, Theni, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram and nourishing 80000 hectares of agriculture land. Also a tunnel which is 104 feet height from the bottom carrying water from the dam is what Tamil Nadu government using for their hydroelectric power production for that particular areas.

Now, let me come into the problem. The “Mullaperiyaru Dam” is 116 years old till now. Kerala engineers say that the dam will not even survive for 6 years. You can see the cross section picture here.
The area which the Dam situated has been affected by minor earth quakes from time to time. Because of this severe situation Dam has been renovated several times from the year 1930.

In 1930, Tamil Nadu engineers made 80 holes in order to insert 80 tons of cement mixture to the damaged parts of the Dam. Also in the year 1960, 500 tons of cement mixture used to renovate again. But unfortunately a minor earth quake which resulted a major leak in the dam. If the Dam completely shatters, Kerala fears that 28km of land up to Idukki for the Dam and other minor Dams such as Idukki, Seruthoni and Kolamavu will be also shatter. 3.5 million People will get affected. Now Kerala is very strong that some alternatives should be done.  What actually Kerala says is, to build another Dam beside the “Mullaperiyaru Dam”. So the people and other minor Dams will be protected.

In that proposal, the dam is planned to be constructed in a place which is 50 feet lower than the actual dam. But again Tamil Nadu engineers argue that, if this plan going to be implemented, they have to build the Dam at least for 250 feet of height. By research Tamil Nadu engineers understood that, the place they have planned to build the new dam is not suitable for construction. If Tamil Nadu wants to get water from the Dam, the Dam’s water level should be 152 feet. The new proposed Dam will not meet those requirements mentioned.

Now, both government politicians are making this problem as a big issue.  Tamil Nadu politicians say, “Kerala is jealous that Tamil Nadu is prospering by their water” and Kerala politicians says “for you it’s just a matter of water, for us it’s our life”. This problem is technically handled, not politically.

Special thanks to Sathish Krishnappillai who provided me the statistics by writing his article on Veerakesari Sunday edition (11th Dec 2011), But I will not accept all this views.

Cheers!!!!!
